That Takes The Cake

After sampling the cupcakes from a number of cupcakeries in the bay area for our upcoming wedding, this one literally took the cake! Over a dozen scrumptious flavors that tingle the taste buds, our favs were the Bunny Bites, the Hella Nutellas and the Elvis's in the Buildings.
While we are currently "cupcaked" out from all the tasting, we can't until for the big day to arrive, and the sea of cupcakes that will greet us after we say "I do!"

After an initial mixup with the scheduling, I met with Andrew for my facial. I realized after talking with him for only a few minutes that I had been doing a miserable job taking care of my own skin, but quickly had a sense that he was going to set things right.
When I left Blue Turtle Spa later that evening I felt refreshed, and excited about how my skin felt and looked. I also left with products better suited to my skin type (no more off the shelf scrubs for me) , and the much needed knowledge of how to use them.
But even with these new tools in hand, I will definitely be back. There is a wedding on the horizon and I know Andrew will help me look my best.
Boy did I miss out.
The food is almost as good as the original restaurant... and the curries in particular, as the Evil Jungle Prince survived the transition to the new restaurant. The portions are generous and it's nice that their Thai Iced Tea is not served in a skinny glass. The staff are friendly (though always seemingly short-staffed) and word must be getting out about this place (despite the less than ideal location, you could blink and miss it) as it was more crowded tonight than I have ever seen it. They also seem to have a thriving take-out/delivery business, probably because they are the only thai restaurant in West Portal.
And If I lived in the area, I'd be ordering out from them all the time.

The food came out quickly, even before the drinks. First came the basil chicken and green curry... and then little bowls of brown rice so "brown" they looked more like coco crispies. Thankfully the portions were generous and flavorful. Then the green tea mohito and the "Pinkie" arrived and all was well with the world.
Desert was also a special treat. Be sure to try the Tropical Paradise, it's a nice twist on the traditional fried banana, without the banana. Would definitely go back...

I'd recommend anyone planning a trip to give the store a whirl. If being stylish is just as important as getting to where your going... you won't regret it.
I recommend the traditional mac and cheese and the Blvd Burger (sub the fries with sweet potato fries, and a lime wedge for a nice drizzle).

I've now seen Michael-Ji at the The Better Body Center twice, and both times I've left incredibly relaxed and with greatly reduced stress (can any one ever really be stress free?), while simultaneously feeling like my body had been put through the ringer (but in a totally good way). The Better Body Center is located just a block off of busy Castro street, but you'd never know it, as its soft lighting and soothing audio spirit you away from hubbub outside.
As for the massage, Michael-Ji has a very strong but soothing touch, always mindful of any limits you may have (and I have plenty). His professionalism and demeanor put me quickly at ease, and he is very knowledgeable, providing valuable advice on how to make future therapy sessions more effective, including adding more stretching exercises to my workout routine, etc... Believe me, I need all the help I can get.
I will definitely continue my sessions with Michael-Ji at the Better Body Center. I am sure they will play an important role in my ongoing battle of getting into better shape while improving my mental and physical health.
